Best grounding mats in 2026: what to look for, and when you actually want a sheet.
A grounding mat is the right tool for feet under a desk, a couch, a reading chair or a travel bag. It is the wrong tool for the eight hours you are asleep. Here is how to tell which one you need, and what to check before you buy either.

Mat or sheet? Decide this first
The question is not which product is better; it is when you want to be grounded. A mat grounds you while you sit or stand on it, for as long as you stay put. A sheet grounds you for the whole night, through your fitted sheet, without you doing anything. Desk, couch, travel: mat. Sleep: sheet. Circulation and pain customers often end up with both, because the day and the night are different problems.
What to check on any grounding mat
- The conductive surface. Stainless steel or a conductive coating. Coatings wear; steel does not. Ours is stainless steel.
- Bare skin or socks. A mat needs contact: bare feet, or thin natural-fibre socks. Synthetic socks block it. Any mat, any brand.
- The cord. Long enough to reach a socket without a lead across the room (ours is 4.6 m), earth pin only, a resistor in the line.
- Whether you will actually use it. The best mat is the one under the desk you sit at for eight hours. If the only long stretch of stillness in your day is in bed, buy the sheet instead.

Questions people ask before they buy
Can I use the mat in bed instead of a sheet?
You can lie on it, but it only grounds the part of you touching it and you will move off it in your sleep. For the night, the sheet: full-bed coverage, under your fitted sheet, for eight hours.
Does it work through socks or shoes?
Bare skin or thin natural-fibre socks. Synthetics and shoes block it.
Can I return the mat?
Mats are not covered by the 120-night trial; that applies to the sheet. Check the returns page before you buy if that matters to you.
Is it safe? It plugs into the wall.
Only the earth pin of the plug is metal; the active and neutral pins are plastic, so it cannot connect to mains power. A 100kΩ resistor sits at the snap and a resettable fuse in the plug. The cord carries no operating voltage.
Does my fitted sheet go over it?
Yes. The grounding sheet lies flat on the mattress and your normal fitted sheet goes over the top. Grounding works through the bedding; you never lie on the steel.
How do I know my socket is earthed?
A socket tester (sold separately, a few dollars) tells you in seconds. Older houses fail this more often than you would think. How to test a grounding sheet walks through it, including a no-tools method.
How do I wash it?
Gentle cycle every couple of months, no bleach and no fabric softener (both coat the fibre), air dry. Treated that way the conductivity is warranted for three years.
Which size do I need?
Single/Twin, Double, Queen, King and Super King. One sheet covers the bed for both of you; pick your mattress size on the product page.
What if I feel nothing?
Some people notice a change in the first week, some take a month, and for some it does nothing they can feel. That is why the trial is 120 nights: long enough to know either way.
Mat for the day you sit. Sheet for the night you sleep.
Pick the one that matches the hours you are actually still. If in doubt, it is usually the night.
