Bursitis is worst at night. Here's why, and what to do about it tonight.
A hip that aches every time you roll over, a shoulder you cannot lie on. The pain peaks after dark for three reasons, and most of the advice you have read only covers the daytime.

Why it hurts more at night
Three things line up after dark. Cortisol, the body's own anti-inflammatory, bottoms out around midnight, so inflammation runs less checked. You stop moving, so fluid pools around the inflamed bursa instead of being pumped away. And you lie on it. Hip bursitis on your side, shoulder bursitis on that shoulder: eight hours of direct pressure on the one spot that cannot take it. That is why a joint that was manageable at 4pm is unbearable at 2am, and why "rest it" advice makes the night worse.
Three things to do today
- Cold if it is hot and swollen, warmth if it is stiff. Fifteen minutes, wrapped, before bed. Most people use the wrong one. A freshly flared bursa wants cold; a chronic, stiff one wants warmth and then gentle movement.
- Take the pressure off the spot. Hip: sleep on the other side with a pillow between the knees, or on your back with one under the knees. Shoulder: never on it; hug a pillow to keep the arm forward. This is unglamorous and it changes the morning more than anything else on the list.
- Ten minutes of slow movement after the heat. Not exercise. Range of motion for the joint that hurts, so fluid moves out before you lie still for eight hours.
See a doctor if the joint is hot, red and swollen, you have a fever, or there is numbness or weakness. Those are not manage-at-home signs.
The eight hours nothing else covers
Ice, heat, position and movement are all daytime tools. The hours when a bursa hurts most are the ones you are lying down, and that is the window this covers.
A grounding sheet is a flat sheet woven with fine 316L stainless steel fibre (about 30% steel, 70% cotton). It lies flat on the mattress under your own fitted sheet, and a cord runs from the corner to the earth pin of a wall socket. That gives your body the same electrical connection to the ground you would get standing barefoot on grass, for the whole night, without you doing anything. You never lie on the steel; it works through the bedding.

Safety, plainly. The plug's active and neutral pins are plastic; only the earth pin is metal, so the sheet physically cannot connect to mains power. There is a 100kΩ resistor at the snap and a resettable fuse in the plug. It is a high-resistance connection to earth and nothing else.

Try it for 120 nights
120 nights is long enough to see a full flare cycle through, not just a good week. Sleep on it for up to 120 nights. If it has not done anything for you, return it for a refund. Every sheet is tested for conductivity before it ships, and the conductivity is warranted for three years.

Questions people ask before they try it
Can it help hip bursitis specifically?
We do not claim that, and no study has tested bursitis on its own. What the studies looked at is inflammation markers and sleep during grounded rest, which is the window when bursitis hurts most. The 120 nights are there so you can judge it on your own hip.
Sheet or mat for this?
For anything that happens in bed, the sheet. The mat is for feet under a desk or on the couch.
Is it safe? It plugs into the wall.
Only the earth pin of the plug is metal; the active and neutral pins are plastic, so it cannot connect to mains power. A 100kΩ resistor sits at the snap and a resettable fuse in the plug. The cord carries no operating voltage.
Does my fitted sheet go over it?
Yes. The grounding sheet lies flat on the mattress and your normal fitted sheet goes over the top. Grounding works through the bedding; you never lie on the steel.
How do I know my socket is earthed?
A socket tester (sold separately, a few dollars) tells you in seconds. Older houses fail this more often than you would think. How to test a grounding sheet walks through it, including a no-tools method.
How do I wash it?
Gentle cycle every couple of months, no bleach and no fabric softener (both coat the fibre), air dry. Treated that way the conductivity is warranted for three years.
Which size do I need?
Single/Twin, Double, Queen, King and Super King. One sheet covers the bed for both of you; pick your mattress size on the product page.
What if I feel nothing?
Some people notice a change in the first week, some take a month, and for some it does nothing they can feel. That is why the trial is 120 nights: long enough to know either way.
The night is the part of bursitis nobody has a plan for.
Cold or heat, position, movement. Then give the night the one tool that covers it while you are asleep.
